The project is located in the middle of beletwein town, diverting flow off the Shabelle river at the waraaboole area and re-joining the river at gamberlawe area to downstream as it exits the city.

The rehabilitation and improvement of the 5km along the waraaboole canal by the construction of additional box culverts, desilting and deepening the canal, and constructing and reinforcing the embankments along it is flood mitigation and control initiative.

Hansan Consulting conducted the following supervision tasks:

• Conducted comprehensive supervision of project implementation activities carried out by the contractor(s) to ensure total compliance with the drawings, technical specifications, and various stipulations in the contract documents.
• Prepared Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) for the overall waraaboole rehabilitation project and bridge structure/scheme specific.
• Routinely inspected the Works both under construction and completed, for compliance with the Specifications and the agreed method of working, as a basis for contracts. Formally arrange joint inspections with NIS and the Contractor for acceptance and/or identification of defects of the works executed or under construction.
